Elementary Art Education with smART Explorers

smART Explorers of GSP delivers in-school art workshops that transform your classroom into an exciting art studio where fun and expression is explored!

Elementary students in grades K-6 will become real artists while developing an appreciation and cultural understanding of art. Programs are aligned with National and State Standards in Art and help build confidence and self-esteem. smART Explorers programs span the curriculum introducing mathematics, social and cultural concepts though the expression of art.

Our programs explore students understanding of the language of art while fostering a positive regard for learning. Students learn best when they are involved in first-hand exploration and investigation. smART Explorers of GSP programs provide students with the opportunity to interact with their peers, share ideas and contribute to inquiry based discussions that support the way in which students naturally learn.

Anybody who feels creative is an artist. Your students will earn their “Art SmARTs” as they engage in a totally hands on “ARTrageously” fun programs.

smART Explorers artists are highly trained and create an environment of respect and integrity while encouraging students to reach their potential. Our artists provide high quality classroom instruction and thought-provoking art experiences.

Our art programs teach students the fundamentals of art including line, shape, pattern and balance while using examples from famous artists to reinforce the skills learned. We use products of the highest quality that are safe and relevant to children’s lives.

smART Explorers of GSP programs are centered on the individual child's experience; therefore, many programs can be adapted upon request to meet the needs of other grade levels.

Sample smART Explorers Elementary Programs

Abstraction Attraction
We will create striking abstract pictures using Russian artist Kandinsk'y methods of contrasting colors and geometric shapes. We will learn how to use color to express emotions as we make bold colorful abstract masterpieces!

Color Coded
Now you see me, now you don’t! Join us for Color Coded, as we learn all about colors, and how the color wheel works. We will make a hide and seek picture, mix colors, and learn about primary, secondary, complementary, and analogous colors!

Get to the Point
Join us as we get to the point of…well the point! We will make amazing pictures using nothing but tiny dots! We will use q-tips and erasers to make pictures, borders, and frames as we explore the art of pointillism!

Marvelous Mosaic
Did you know that math and art have a lot in common? You can use math to make beautiful masterpieces. In Marvelous Mosaic, we will learn the math of mosaics as we make seed mosaics, learn patterning, and make a mosaic pencil holder!

Modern Marvels
In Modern Marvels we will create modern art using the amazing techniques made famous by Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, and Paul Klee. We will make a cubist collage, make a Warhol print, and explore bold lines and color as we recreate Paul Klee’s "Park Near Lucerne" painting!
